This Set of 2 2016 Silver Vatican Proofs is ideal for collectors of the Catholic faith, collectors of low mintage coins, and those looking for lesser known pieces. The coins in this set were issued to commemorate World Youth Day and the World Day of Peace. They were struck at the Italian Mint from .925 sterling silver and have limited mintages of 5,500 pieces each.
Stunning Angel and Cross Designs
The World Day of Peace coin features an image of Pope Francis on the obverse. His holiness looks directly at the holder. On the reverse, an angel lowers his sword into a bush, which has olive branches emerging from it. This image symbolizes the victory of peace over the dryness of the human soul.
The other piece in the set features the Pope's coat of arms, which itself includes several symbols, such as the keys of St. Peter. On the reverse, young people hold up a cross as another worships nearby.
Nearly Perfect PF69 UC with Exclusive Vatican City Label
Both of these coin appear perfect to the naked eye but have at least one minuscule flaw. Accordingly, they were graded Proof 69 by the experts at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), who also certified the pieces as Ultra Cameos. NGC provided this information on labels that feature St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City's most famous landmark.
