Rare Marblehead Pottery hand decorated bowl with a leaf and berry design.
Fully marked on base with MP ship mark.
Beautiful hand painted decoration - bowl is mat medium blue on exterior and glossy light blue on interior with an additional 3 hand painted colors - dark blue background, forest green leaves and light blue berries.
The bowl is 6-1/4" diameter by 2-3/8" high.
The bowl has a tight hairline crack from the rim in the shape of an upside down Y. It comes down 1-1/4" from the rim, the right side of the Y is about 2-1/4" and the left side is about 1-1/2". You can feel the hairline from the rim with your fingernail. The 2 parts of the Y are very tight, but visible upon close inspection. There is a tiny glaze flake on the interior which is visible in photo 8. There is also a tight hairline coming up from the right hand side of the Y. It does not go all the way to the rim and does not go through to the interior. This is barely noticeable in person. The hairlines are shown in photos 1, 2, 8, 10, and 11.
Besides that the bowl is in great condition with just a few small "pencil" lines shown in photo 12. The hairlines are only on one side of the bowl.
Please look at the photos carefully - I have shown every part clearly, especially the hairlines.
The price is about half of what it would be worth without the hairline.
